MUSLIM 4Ever asked:
I am just thinking to learn the money changing trade, but I am shy too, if I become a money changer, then I will be faced with customers, and I am shy. I was thinking if I wear add a veil, with my obligatory headscarf, and then face the customers.

What are your comments, if you were to change your currency and a Muslim woman with a veil is the changer?
Just curious, as there are not much veiled women here though majority of Muslims are only with headscarves.

I wouldn’t be bothered in the least. As long as your math skills are up to par, there would be no problem.
as long as their is Glass protection between us I would be fine but I would not give money to some one I did not know with their face covered in the street I would presume it was a robber.
I’d only see a woman. Not a Muslim, Catholic, Jew, etc. woman.
And I’d want to change my money.
I expect that people would be happier dealing with someone whose face they can see. But I’m a Westerner.
I wouldn’t be bothered at all.
Middle Eastern women are so pretty. Too bad you feel compelled to cover up your body. I’ll exchange money with you.
I wouldn’t mind changing my money. However, to be honest, it would be quite unexpected to see a Muslim lady wearing a veil since I haven’t seen any as long as I can recall. Probably couple of occasions that I encountered.
Hey, you’re wearing the veil simply because you’re shy, right? I mean headscarf is enough to be faithful. Then why don’t you get used to seeing others without wearing a veil? You just reminded me of a Pakistani Muslim girl in my high school who was too shy even to take a graduation picture. She had a nice personality but I recall that she was quite shy. Anyways, good luck!
In Middle east it is normal.
I’m a bit shy myself- so to be honest I’d probably walk away on the grounds I can’t see your face. My one encounter with a veiled Muslim woman was in an elevator I normally stand by the buttons and ask people what floor they want- I just stood in the back as I didn’t know if the woman in question wanted to talk to any one. So I simply stood aside hoping not to be rude. When I saw her latter on with out the veil and burkha I was more at ease seeing her face made her more accessible- so I spoke to her a bit wished her a good Ramadan she wore the Burkha because it was air banks Alaska and quite cold- and the veils and such were probably quite comfortable. So sbconsiously it is a matter of having a wall there- I may not always sucsede but I try to be polite.
A veil wouldn’t change the fact that you still have to interact with the public, so it doesn’t really do a lot of good, right?
I would go for it, but without the veil. You don’t have to make small talk, just talk business.
But if it is that bad, maybe you should try and find a job that doesn’t deal with the public.
assalaamu ‘alailum sister, wear yout niqaab with pride. i’d exchange money with you.
